Gotcha Day

Sorry it took so long to get this posted. It has been a very long and hard day. We left our room at 5:40 am and headed to the airport. Our flight was delayed as we sat on the runway for a half an hour. We arrived in Nanjing after our appointment time so we hit the road running. It was a challenge to keep it all together today. We were unable to prepare for the big moment because we were running around to get everywhere before the civil affairs office closed for lunch. Needless to say, no touching video yet. As a matter of fact, we have very few photos as well. Peter had a very hard time warming up to us and it wasn't until dinner time that we finally got some movement out of him. It is going to take some time with him.

We met the director and a nanny from the orphanage but were unable to really talk with them. We are hoping to get our questions answered when we see them again tomorrow. It was such a runaround today that it is going to take this evening to really let the day's events sink in. We have our son. Amazing. We have photos that you can see here.

Please, please keep praying. We need the prayers as much as Peter (Dave, Gracie and mostly Wendy).

{{{{{Wa, Dave, Gracie and Peter}}}}}, This was a tiring day for you, I am sure. I was awake praying at 2:00 a.m. I wonder what was happening with you then and isn't God awesome to have awakened me then to intercede for you all! He loves you so much and has the road before you set out to bring glory to His name. Peter has a family! You will woo him with your love just like God does us...some of us are more stubborn than others (not mentioning any names...smile) Praying for you all! I love you so much and wish I could give you physical hugs! Instead I have to give you computer hugs.

You have your son!!! Our prayers are with you along with with thankgiving that Peter has his family. Be patient with him!!! Remeber you need to meet him where he is at for a while. I know it can be difficult (and I really mean that) but with time and your love you will see the wonderful son you have been praying for.

Aunt Wendy, Uncle Dave, Gracie & our new cousin, Peter-- I loved the pictures. Peter is so cute! I hope Peter likes the trip home on the airplane. Love Shayla (Jack & Joy)

A picture really is worth 1,000 words. Some of his expressions reminded me of Jack! He is so cute, so BOY!! What a handsome little guy! What a day for all of you. I just read this quote from Mother Theresa's biography about her goal in mission work: "Living Christ's love for them and awakening their response to HIS great love." This comforted and inspired me to press on through the tough times in parenting. It also reminded me I cannot live Christ before my children without abiding in Him. I know you will live Christ for Peter and his soul and spirit will be awakened to both your love and God's. It cannot be helped. He will be drawn to you as you love him. He will be drawn to Christ as you love him. I will pray that prayer for both of you. Love you so much, Jeannine

He is adorable! Same chubby, kissable cheeks as Gracie. Each day will get easier and easier for him. You have so much love to give.
